“Our residents felt a special connection to the subject matter and it was wonderful to bring the world
of theatre directly to them.”

“Lauren’s performance was not only funny, music-filled and entertaining, but educational as well. A
perfect program for our group!”
This acclaimed one-woman show weaves together history, comedy, and original witty songs to
reframe and reclaim the character, celebrating what we treasure in that heritage while exploring how
to move past a dated, inaccurate, and hurtful stereotype. The program is based on extensive research
as well as dozens of interviews, leaving audiences both entertained and inspired. Recent performances
include at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, The Marsh SF, the San Francisco Jewish
Community Center, Rhoda Goldman Plaza, and numerous other synagogues and Jewish senior centers.
Modern comedy has moved past the old days of ethnic slurs and put-downs, and yet Jewish mothers
are still depicted as the cliché of nagging, intrusive shrews – it’s like we’re the last remaining culturally
acceptable stereotype, and Lauren makes a convincing case that it’s time for an update.
